We Can Play Futsal: Inclusion Through Sport

The “We Can Play Futsal” project concluded in Cagliari a few days ago at the CUS Cagliari sports hall. This initiative aims to promote physical education among high school students in Cagliari and strengthen the culture of respect and inclusion through sport.

Saras, along with other prestigious partners such as the Carlo Enrico Giulini Foundation, the Grendi Group, and the Donna Ceteris association, contributed to the project, now in its fourth edition and carried out by SSD Mediterranea Cagliari – a Sardinian club involved in numerous social initiatives – and Cagliari Calcio.

The day marked the culmination of an initiative that, over the course of the school year, involved over 300 girls and boys in five-a-side football tournaments. Students from Cagliari’s high schools, Convitto Nazionale, Euclide, Eleonora d’Arborea, and ITE Martini, participated.

During the final event at the CUS sports hall, numerous guests from the institutional world expressed their appreciation for the initiative, and representatives from the sports world shared their experiences.

The President of the SSD Mediterranea Cagliari, Corrado Melis, shared the project’s results and thanked the initiative’s partners: “Sport is a powerful tool for combating discrimination. I am very pleased to have been able to bring the initiative into its fourth year. I thank Donna Ceteris, the Municipality of Cagliari and in particular the Equal Opportunities Commission, Cagliari Calcio, and the Carlo Enrico Giulini Foundation for their tremendous support, as well as the Grendi Group and Saras; not to mention the students and teachers, the beneficiaries of the project, without whom this would be meaningless”.

We are proud of these activities and are convinced that ongoing dialogue with the local community fosters the social, economic, and cultural development of the community.
