The event ‘Sarroch – Sport without borders’ is an initiative of the Saras company’s CRAL (the staff’s leisure club)
in cooperation with the Proloco Sarroch (local tourist promotion office) and the support of the town authorities of Sarroch.
It is a three-day event dedicated to the members of the local sports clubs.
The 2017 edition was held on 21, 22 and 23 July at the marina of Perd’e Sali (Sarroch). The main guest of the closing ceremony was Jack Devecchi,
captain of the Dinamo Banco di Sardegna football team, together with some fellow team members.
The sports event, featuring mixed-gender teams, included beach tennis, football and volley tournaments,
held on courts set up near the marina’s quay. At the end of the tournament, the small basketball players of Sarroch-based club Redstar
took to the court.
After some warm-ups, they started a shooting competition. As the competition ended with a draw between a young girl, Elena, and a boy,
the boy stepped down and left the cup to Elena, a nice show of sportsmanship.
The young champion received the cup from Devecchi. Together, they then gave the prizes to the sports clubs that won the tournament:
the first prize went to ‘AC DENTI’, with players from ‘Gioventù Sarroch’ and ‘Calcio femminile Sarroch’; second prize to ‘Fitness Tennis’, which combined the tennis and taekwondo clubs;
the third to two teams from Capoterra.
‘These days have shown that sport brings people together.
The presence of a team such as Dinamo, a standard-bearer for Sardinia, makes us very happy’,
said Sarroch mayor, Salvatore Mattana during the closing speeches.
Next to him were the town’s sports councillor Mirko Spiga, coordinator of the event,
Sarlux president Francesco Marini and president of the Saras Cral Antonio Durzu.
‘For us, this was an exciting challenge – said Marini – which we took up during the closing ceremony of the Saras Sports Awards:
organise an event for all sports people in Sarroch. I would like to congratulate all those who ensured its success’.
