Two students of the Ipia Ferraris School of Iglesias win the second edition of the competition \u2013 they will take a trip to Barcelona including a visit to the Fab Lab<\/p><\/div>\n

Quotes from major filmmakers, but also critical comments on our constantly \u201cconnected\u201d status, and social themes such as overcoming disabilities with technology. Various sources inspired the young videomakers who took part in the competition entitled \u201cRaccontami l\u2019Innovazione\u201d, second edition, sponsored by Saras and the association Sardegna 2050 for the high school students of southern Sardinia. But next year will see the involvement of students from northern Sardinia too. The competition was sponsored by the Ministry for Education, University and Research, acting through the Regional School Authority of Sardinia.<\/p>\n

Students were asked to imagine the future seen in a three-minute video, preferably shot with a smartphone. Many students participated, describing the innovations that will change our lives in the fields covered by the competition rules, that is communications, mobility, school, energy, health, identity, tourism, work and sustainability. The jury chose the best three videos, although all works merited special mention for the narrative strength which marked almost all of them.<\/p>\n

First prize<\/u><\/strong>: \u201cModern Times\u201d \u2013 Ipia Galileo Ferraris of Iglesias \u2013 authors Luca Lampis, Marco Nannizzi and Gianmarco Cical\u00f2, teacher Nicoletta Schirru. The group won a voucher for an expenses paid three-day trip to Barcelona including a visit to the Fab Lab, the most creative innovation factory in Europe. With a B&W video, harking back to Chaplin\u2019s \u2018Modern Times\u2019, and with a strong reference to \u2018Metropolis\u2019 by Fritz Lang, the authors conceived and created, using reclaimed materials, a moving robot able to perform hazardous tasks in difficult environments. The jury was particularly impressed by the quality of narration, which had an excellent storyline and a close link between scenes and commentary\/sound.<\/p>\n

\"FERRARIS<\/p>\n

Second prize<\/u><\/strong>: ITIS Michele Giua of Cagliari \u2013 title: \u201cSmar3D & Gemma Sonica\u201d \u2013 authors Valentino Zuliani, Federico Scioni and Preet Inder Saini, teacher Antonello Zizi. The group won an expenses paid 2-day trip with guided visit to the \u201cFab Lab\u201d of the Naples City of Science. This team created a system, light and easy to wear as a cap or a locket, alerting blind or visually impaired persons to the presence of obstacles along their way. \u201cRaIn\u201d was impressed by the originality of the innovation proposed and its high social impact, this being one of the many solutions proposed by the Hi-Lab of the Giua school.<\/p>\n

Third prize<\/u><\/strong>: Institute Domenico Alberto Azuni of Cagliari, technical-graphic courses \u2013 title \u201cFatto!\u201d (Done!) \u2013 authors Lorenzo Eriu, Raffaele Serra and Paolo Ghiani, teacher Stefania Grilli. The group won a Go-pro 4 action camera for each student. The generational divide, potential and limits of technology advances are described with irony and sophisticated filmmaking, with signs of the second wave of Italian Neorealism of the 1970s. The authors of this video have invented an imaginary app called \u201cFatto!\u201d (done!), which makes it possible to run errands directly from the home, only to discover that you can\u2019t do everything with technology. The jury saw this clip as an alternative way of describing innovation, with an ironic glance which stimulates reflection and self-criticism.<\/p>\n

\"Studenti<\/p>\n

The winning team of RaIn 2016 will be able to present its idea on innovation at the national event \u201cScintille\u201d (www.cniscintille.it<\/a>), to be held at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo on 22 June 2016. This event is sponsored and sustained by the Ministry of Education, University and Research.<\/p>\n

The authors of the 10 best videos will be able to present their work at the event \u201cofficinepermanenti\u201d to be held on 15 July in Cagliari, in the section \u201cSchool and Innovation\u201d. Apart from the first three classified, the following videos were shortlisted:<\/p>\n
