\u201cSchool is changing and innovating, and wants to govern change to offer better education.\u201d<\/p>\n

These words by the director of the Comprehensive Secondary School of Sarroch (Cagliari),
\nFatima Pasella are received with keen interest by two classes of second-year students. This is no ordinary lesson
\n\u2013 this is the presentation of the \u2018Tablet Project\u2019, designed to gradually add tablets to the students\u2019 standard textbooks.<\/p>\n

The Saras Group is sponsoring this project which aims to help students use digital devices in a conscious,
\ncritical and creative manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom monsters to friends\u201d, these were the words used by the deputy headmaster of the institute, Paolo Ligas,
\nas he spoke in particular to parents, referring to the diffidence at times shown by mothers and fathers
\nin regards to the internet and its access devices.<\/p>\n

This experiment will start firstly in two second-year classes \u2013 A and B \u2013 and will allow the youngsters,
\ndigital natives, to exploit to the full their skills, learning that technology is their friend: the enemy to be overcome is its bad use.<\/p>\n

A vital factor in the success of the project will be the role played by teachers, specifically trained
\nto exploit to the best this opportunity, and the collaboration of parents who showed great interest in the initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunities are many and varied \u2013 pointed out Mr Ligas \u2013 new teaching methods will make it possible
\nto use the classroom spaces better, they will facilitate the use by the students of textbooks
\n\u2013 now also available in digital format \u2013 and will allow immediate checks of learning outcomes.<\/p>\n

What is more, sharing and cooperation will foster the development of creative talent.
\nIt will also be possible to assist better those students experiencing difficulties.\u201d<\/p>\n

So not only fewer books in the teens\u2019 backpacks, but also the chance to improve learning techniques and learn
\nto sift through information and verify its sources, a very topical theme in our age of \u2018fake news\u2019.<\/p>\n
