The “ESG Report 2025 – Saras” has been published

The “ESG Report 2025 – Saras”, prepared on a voluntary basis and in continuity with previous years, is now available online. The document communicates Saras’values and describes the commitment and professionalism of our people in ensuring the energy security of Sardinia and the country, operating according to principles of responsibility and sustainability and creating value for the region and its stakeholders.

The Report contains the main ESG indicators: in 2025, Saras generated approximately 25,000 jobs annually, an average contribution of €1.72 billion to Sardinia’s GDP, and a supply chain deeply rooted in the region, with 89% of its workforce and 38% of its purchases coming from local suppliers.
In terms of energy security, the Sarroch refinery represents 21% of Italy’s refining capacity, while the IGCC plant produced 4,100 GWh of electricity, equal to 49.4% of the island’s electricity consumption.
Furthermore, with regard to reducing our environmental footprint, our renewable plants have an installed capacity of 171 MW and, in 2025, generated 371 GWh of clean energy, meeting the energy needs of over 267,000 people while avoiding approximately 240,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Water management involves the use of recycled water for approximately 28% of total needs and desalinated seawater for a further 44% of needs. This minimizes the Sarroch site’s need for primary resources (raw water from the consortium), which are instead made available primarily for the local agricultural and civil needs.
The Report provides updates on the initiatives undertaken, the objectives that demonstrate our responsible and sustainable vision, and the value generated by our activities, particularly in Sardinia.
