Sarroch leads the national model against extreme heat

The first agreement in Italy dedicated to the prevention and management of extreme heat risk in metalworking industries is now operational at the Sarroch Industrial Park. The agreement was presented by Federmeccanica – Confindustria Sardegna Meridionale and the trade unions FIOM CGIL, FSM CISL, and UILM UIL, as part of the “Prevenzione Sardegna 2025” pilot project promoted by the Regional Directorate of INAIL Sardinia.

Within this project, Sarlux provided crucial technical and scientific input in developing the Guidelines, supporting INAIL and the social partners in developing the first national model for heat risk management. The Sarroch site thus confirms its position as a leading edge model for prevention policies, thanks to specialized expertise, ongoing investment, and structured collaboration with businesses and trade unions.

The agreement introduces a four-level alert system, with progressive measures that include rescheduling working hours, scheduling breaks, and, in the most critical cases, suspending production activities. An innovative element is the creation of a select committee to ensure real-time coordination and communication between the site’s companies.

This initiative strengthens the role of the Sarroch Industrial Park as a strategic district for Sardinia and the entire country, capable of defining sustainable and efficient operating models, always focused on protecting worker health and ensuring risk prevention and minimization.
